Prof FENG Pao Hsii obtained his basic medical
degree (MBBS) from the University of Malaya,
Singapore division in 1960. After rotating through
the disciplines of surgery, medicine and psychiatry
he was awarded the Colombo Plan Fellowship by
the British Government to specialise in Internal
Medicine in UK in 1964. While in the UK he obtained
the MRCP (Glasgow) in 1965. In 1969 he was awarded
the WHO Research Fellowship in Israel. On his
return he further his research interests in
Lupus and the Rheumatic Diseases and subsequently
established the only Department of Rheumatology
& Immunology in Singapore at the Tan Tock
Seng Hospital and became its first Head. In
1981 and 1986 he was awarded the Ministry of
Health, HMDP Fellowship to visit centres of
excellence in UK and the USA.
Presently, he holds the following positions
in the University and the hospital.

For his services to Clinical Immunology and
Rheumatology, the Singapore Society of Immunology,
Allergy and Rheumatology (SSIAR) inaugurated
the annual "Feng Pao Hsii Lecture"
on 5th July 2000.

He has been Editor of the Singapore Medical

He is the Past-President of APLAR (Asia-Pacific
League of Association of Rheumatology) and was
the Chairman, Organising Committee of the World
Congress of Rheumatology (ILAR) in Singapore
in 1997.
