FAMILY FUN AT THE JAC/JLC FAMILY RETREAT

Right in the heart of Orchard Road, The Juvenile Arthritis Club and Juvenile Lupus Club held their 2-day-1 night Family Camp at Royal Plaza in Scotts from 21 to 22 June 2003.

A total of 19 families comprising 56 persons participated in the activities. 49 participants even spent a night at the 5-star hotel, including Dr Yvonne See, (a pediatrics rheumatologist with KK hospital) and her family.
The fun event kicked off with a heart-warming welcome speech by Founding President, Mrs Joyce Si, followed by a talk on ‘The Role of A Medical Social Worker and the Social Services Available’ by Ms Judith Chew, Medical Social Worker from KK Women & Children’s Hospital.
Armed with fun time games and photo-frames making activities, the children enjoyed every moment tremendously. The family bonding activities in the afternoon were a real treat for all. Families bonded through many fun-filled games.
Ms Sarah Wong, Senior Physiotherapist from Women & Children’s Hospital was also present to offer tips on ‘Physiotherapy Exercises For A Child With Arthritis’ and later led the children and parents on a round of land physiotherapy exercises.

Goodie Bags were kindly sponsored by Diethlem Singapore, Noel Gifts and 3M Singapore. The Management of Royal Plaza on Scotts had also been generous to throw in lots of freebies for both clubs through the money raised by The Echo of Love Society last year.

By noon the next day, they all bade farewell reluctantly. Families and children alike hoped for a longer stay at the next JAC/JLC camp! Cheerio!
